Greatham Church of England Primary School’s Eco Team work tirelessly across school to ensure our school and local community get involved with exciting environmental projects.
Ecology Club is run by Miss Kerry and Mrs Moppett. We meet weekly. We work on a range of topics from our 9 subjects. These are Energy, Water, Litter, Healthy Schools, Biodiversity, School Grounds, Transport, Global Perspectives and Marine.
As part of our ongoing efforts to help our environment, Greatham Primary School has signed up to be part of a new Terracycle campaign. This is the ‘Writing Instruments Recycling Programme’.
We are collecting, for the foreseeable future, any brand of pen, felt tip, highlighter, marker, correction tape, correction fluid pot, mechanical pencil and eraser pen – cap included, regardless of their composition- (plastic/metal).
We have been approved to be ‘Bic Community Champion’ and a public drop off collection point for this particular campaign for Hartlepool and the surrounding areas. We are asking people to have a sort through their old pens and bring them in or send them in with your children to be put in our collection box.
For every single writing instrument that we collect to be recycled, one penny will go to our chosen charity which is Alice House Hospice. So please spread the word to your family and friends, to people at work and to anyone else you can think of to support this very worthy campaign which not only helps our environment but also helps a very worthy local charity.
Thank you.
